Suffolk & Norfolk Social Work Teaching Partnership celebrate World Social Work Day  2024.The theme for 2024 is Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change.

World Social Work Day  #WSWD2024 takes place on Tuesday 19th March 2024.

This year’s theme is Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change and emphasises the need for social workers to adopt innovative, community-led approaches that are grounded in indigenous wisdom and harmonious coexistence with nature.

#WSWD2024 World Social Work Day is a celebration that aims to highlight the achievements of social work, to raise the visibility of social services for the future of societies, and to defend social justice and human rights. This year’s theme is Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change.

Social workers are members of our communities and strive to improve living conditions for all.  Social Work Month is a chance to let people know about this profession, how to join and support them and thank social workers.

Suffolk and Norfolk Social Work Teaching Partnership is sharing their members’ experiences on social media @snswtp and highlighting the network of other social work teaching partnerships' activities.

World Social Work Day is an opportunity for all social workers to join together and our partners, Norfolk County Council, Suffolk County Council and University of East Anglia and the University of Suffolk are all running events for their staff to mark this special day.

Our people with lived experience members from the University of East Anglia and members of Social Work Voices from the University of Suffolk will be holding a podcasting workshop as part of their co-production work.

Listen on BBC Radio Suffolk, to University of Suffolk’s Dr Jo Finch, Professor of Social Work and student Emma Smy talk about the  range of work social workers get involved in and encourage people to consider social work as a career.

There are lots of opportunities running across the week and a range of online activities and resources from other organisations including #SocialWorkWeek2024, @CommunityCare @BASW-UK and @researchIP.

So however you celebrate this special day, we wish you all a great day and thank you for all that you do, every day.
