Lived Experience Community

Our Ethos

Our lived experience communities are a central part of our Teaching Partnership and the support team around the student, apprentice or qualified Social Worker. There are two groups, one based in Norfolk and the other in Suffolk.

These communities are made up of individuals who have lived experience of Social Care and are passionate about shaping the future of services.

Co-production

We use a co-production model when working with people with lived experience. This allows members to design and deliver training centred on their real-life experience and needs, creating Social Workers that are better equipped for the challenges and opportunities they will encounter within their work. Co-production ensure that involvement of those with lived experience is meaningful and makes a real difference to practice.

Object Project

The SNSWTP’s Object Project is curated by Sam Barley, from Norfolk. It was inspired by Mark Doel’s original work in 2017. Sam asked people with lived experience and educators to pick an object and photograph it and describe what participation in Social Work Education meant to them.
